Santolina chamaecyparissus is a compact variety of Santolina -- a summer flowering Mediterranean shrublet. Santolina chamaecyparissus needs to be pruned twice each year. This video shows the late winter / early spring pruning that removes dead wood and shortens the plant so that new growth can occur without splitting open the center of the plant. (Check back in the summer for the post-flowering pruning.)
