Dogwoods: A Trail, A Cultivar, A Legacy

Join Sarah DeWitt as she shares the unique contributions of the Howell Family to the cultural history of Knoxville and the landscape plants that became widely available across the eastern United States. Multiple generations of Howells ran nationally-known nurseries for over a century and their imprint can be seen in the diverse flora and unique hardscaping still present today on the site of their flagship nursery and home, now the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum. With a special nod to the beloved dogwood blooms, you’ll hear how the Howells contributed to the start of the Dogwood Arts festival and trails program.
