Kerria japonica is a deciduous shrub in the Rosaceae (rose) family. It has upright, arching, slender stems that form a broad, dense, twiggy mass, ranging from three to six feet tall and wide. It is a cane shrub and can become leggy — at which point it will need heavy pruning to rejuvenate.
