Nandina is an evergreen cane shrub that is heat and drought tolerant in the southeast USA. It is native to East Asia and India. As a cane shrub, Nandina can get quite thick and reduce the sunlight penetration into the shrub. This will cause it to produce ‘moonshots’ and to get tall, leggy, and unattractive.
